Dr. Shams is a recent addition to Kirkland Vision Center. She was raised in Toronto, Canada and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto in Human Biology/Chemistry and her Doctor of Optometry Degree with Honors at Salus University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She completed internships at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and Associates in Ophthalmology Center in Pittsburgh.

Following graduation, Dr. Shams completed Canadian and U.S. board exams in Optometry. A busy private practice in Toronto is where she spent her first few years. She then moved to Buffalo, New York where she practiced for another few years until she recently decided to move to Washington State.

Dr. Shams enjoys the clinical diversity seen in patients of all ages. From diagnosing lazy eye in children to treating glaucoma and managing hard to fit contact lenses in adults.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and young son, where you may find them swimming, hiking, cooking and traveling.
